An announcement from Thomas:
We have had a wave of new guests that have fallen in love and have been convinced that it is a good idea to pay for an apartment and send money to their "sweetheart" monthly. What of the men do not know is that these Dominicanas have a "system" of convincing new boyfriends that they are tired of working, that their new boyfriend is what they have always wanted, and that they will have a faithful and exclusive relationship.
Occasionally this works (we have 43 real engagements or marriages in our 10 years in Margarita Island and Bahia de Plata, DR) . But the vast majority of times it does not work and the new "boyfriend/fiancee" is just being taken for a ride. If we can help prevent this, we will. Most of these girls have a list of 5 or 6 "fiancees" who think they are the only man in their girl's life. And these girls go to Western Union every week to pick up cash sent by one of them. It can be a substantial amount of money every month.
One girl in Venezuela, "Sexy Lexy," had only two fiancees but by circumstance they found each other on the internet and, guess what? Sexy Lexy had taken the both of them for a total of $52,000 in one year and they had bought her a new Toyota and an apartment.
The travesty of this is that these former guests of ours never consulted with us about their girlfriends' requests. We would have helped them out if they had. But they were "wise guys", thinking they were too smart to get taken, or too ashamed to let us know that their girl had invited them to hook up "off campus" behind our backs.
Two guests have had similar problems in the DR and are still not aware that one of the girls is legally married (to a guy from Los Angeles). He bought her an apartment in Puerto Plata and sends her money every month. Another girl has been given an apartment and had it furnished at considerable costs by her new "fiancee" (he visited us one time). What he does not know is that she already has two "chulos" (local Dominican boyfriends) that she gives money to on a regular basis and that come to the apartment to sleep over when the North American boyfriend is back in the USA. The amazing thing about this case is that when she took him to meet her family, the "chulo" was in her family's house waiting for her but she introduced him as her "cousin". This is another example of "that could never happen to me, she loves me".
Bottom line. We are not a matrimonial agency, although with 43 engagements or marriages sometimes we appear to be. We will advise and help guests that want to find a way to make a relationship with a girl more permanent by providing referrals for immigration lawyers, work letters, and bank letters. And we know the background of almost all the girls that ask to come to our villas. We have to know in order to do a background check. So let us help. Be careful, consult with us and don't get fleeced, brothers. _________________ It is better to have seen a place once than to have heard of it a thousand times.
